My husband, The Guv, introduced me to this song, saying that it made him think of me.
Funny, when I hear it, I think if him, especially the trips we took to California pre-children. 1997, San Diego to Tijuana and back. 1999, San Francisco to Monterey to Yosemite to Tahoe and back.
This monsoon rain we've been having for, oh, 'round about 40 days and 40 nights, doesn't exist in those memories, 'cause it wasn't happening then. So when I want to remember the California of my happiest memories -- the one in which the sun always shined, I had nowhere to be and nothing to do except be with the one I loved in the least-stressed way possible -- I crank this song. On repeat. A million times a day.
"it's just tequila and the beach, it's quite salty when we kiss."
Those were different years...
