Tonight's going-to-bed dialogue:
Dash: Mama, Daddy took my screwdriver away.
Mama: Dash, that wasn't your screwdriver. It was Daddy's big and sharp screwdriver, and it wasn't safe for you to use.
Dash: That WAS my screwdriver. I want it. Super Bob needs a big huge screwdriver to do big man work. [Super Bob, a fusion of Super Mario and Bob the Builder, is Dash's name for himself this weekend.]
Mama: Well, Super Bob, maybe we can find a good screwdriver for you tomorrow.
Dash: No! You punish Daddy! I need my big huge screwdriver!
Mama, giving in: Okay, Dash, I'll punish Daddy later. Now can you go to sleep?
After a few moments of silence:
Dash: Mama?
Mama: Yes, Dash.
Dash: You didn't punish Daddy yet.
Mama: Dash, as I live and breathe, you had better go to sleep right this instant. We can talk about the screwdriver tomorrow.
Dash: Don't call me that! I'm Super Bob!
Mama, stifling the urge to explode: Okay then, Super Bob, good night. Sweet dreams. I love you.
Dash: I love screwdrivers.
And then he falls asleep within seconds...
